Met Gala theme Comme des Garcons.

When you think of Comme des Garcon you think avant-garde. Comme des Garcons like other designers such as Issey Miyake like to experiment around with shapes as well as how it is worn on the model. As this is the theme for met gala some celebrities have definitely gone avant-garde whilst others kept to a simpler on-trend dresses. These 7 of my favourite dresses from the event.

1. Zendaya in Dolce & Gabbana

This is a lovely ball gown from Dolce & Gabbana, the colours of the dress really brings out the glow in her skin. This is a more on-trend dress as tropical prints are in season as well as the colours, but I love how the dress looks itself.

2. Rihanna in Comme des Garcons

This is very fitting for the theme especially as the designer is Comme des Garcons. The colouration and print are definitely in season. The make-up completes the avant-garde look, it’s much simpler than what is going on in the dress which draws more attention to the garment.

3. Cara Delevingne in Chanel

This outfit is out of this world, this is indeed making a statement. I love that Cara is wearing a suit but it is still very feminine. As if the suit didn’t stand out more than it did she made her hair silver too.

4. Kylie Jenner in Versace

This is a more revealing dress with the mesh fabric. Very glamorous with the embellishments on the dress. I love the fringes on the dress, very on trend but also it takes the dress that little further from an ordinary dress.

5. Blake Lively in Atelier Versace

This is pretty much what you would expect Serena Van Der Woodsen would wear. Very glamorous, a little more on the toned down side of avant-garde but I love the details that are incorporated into the dress.

6. Hailey Baldwin in Carolina Herrera

I love how clean cut this whole outfit looks. You have a very simple bodice then you get this volume in the skirt. The pastel colour is in-season and it looks like it consists of 3 shades of a pink neutral colour. But I do love the sections of gathers on the skirt.

7. Emily Ratajkowski in Marc Jacobs

This is again more toned down, but the colours fit in with the tropical trend with the blues and yellows. The dress is covered in many sequins and this also brings out a glow on Emily’s skin because the colours complement her skin very well.
