The liquid face highlighter was another thing that I saw was quite popular with beauty bloggers so I tried this product. It is called Liquid Face Highlighter Brightener Bronzer Makeup Beauty Shimmer Cream and it retails for £2.82.
This is what the packaging looks like. It’s quite simple and small so you can take it on the go if you would prefer.
These are what the product claims to be like:
- Long lasting.
- Brighten the skin.
- Easy to carry.
- Usable on the body.
- Can be applied prior to, or mixed in with makeup for a luminous finish.
My first impression of this was that when I opened the bottle it had a thick consistency and that it was unscented. Personally, I don’t really mind having any scent on my makeup as long as it is pleasant and not that strong.
Firstly, I applied the highlighter on my cheekbones. I was wearing makeup already to see how it looked like. I applied a small amount to my cheekbones as the consistency was quite thick anyway. Using my fingers I tried to blend the highlighter, it was not the best choice as my fingers had a lot of product on them. It almost felt like an oil because of how heavy it felt but also how smooth it went onto my face. After a while, I did manage to blend it in. I then tried it with the brush to see if it would make any difference. However, it did leave streak marks until it was fully blended. It didn’t take too much effort to blend it in with a brush. After a few minutes, it felt like I wasn’t even wearing the highlighter.
This is what it looks like with the highlighter on the cheekbones. It is on a more subtle side with only one layer. It is definitely buildable.
Next, I tried to see how it would look like with a base of the highlighter. The product feels lightweight on the face, but you do end up looking like a disco ball. I applied my foundation as normal and then powdered up. The shimmer wasn’t as obvious as when I applied to my bare face. From afar my face looks brighter but up close my face shimmers.
This is what it looks like after. My face does look luminous in the photo as well as bright.
My final verdict, I do like the product and it does what it claims to do. However, I’m not so much as a fan of a liquid highlighter as I feel like you can’t be precise with it in comparison with a powdered highlighter and a brush. If I was to use it again I would only apply the highlighter to areas that I want to appear luminous rather than my whole face.
